Jeremy M. Hurwitz
Principal and Founder
Jeremy Hurwitz has over 25 years of experience in the investment systems technology field working with global institutional investment organizations. He has developed extensive knowledge and expertise in investment theory and process, operational efficiencies as applied to Enterprise Information Management (EIM) and technology architectures disciplines. Jeremy manages InvestTech’s EIM practice and provides strategic data architecture and technology design services to the firm’s clients.
Jeremy co-founded InvestTech Systems Consulting, and has managed the implementation of many of the leading vendor-provided investment management and data architecture solutions across a wide range of clients and technology platforms. Many of these projects involved strategic technology design, development and integration of customized technology solutions, including:
- Enterprise-wide investment data management systems design (EIM, MDM, DGO)
- Global data warehouse, operational data store, data marts and BI reporting services
- Strategic investment systems architecture and technology planning
- Exposure to institutional, pension, mutual, advisors and wealth management firms
- Expertise in equity, fixed income, derivative, high yield, bank debt, and other asset classes
- Evaluation of data management, accounting, trading, performance & risk systems
- Front-to-back office STP automation management systems/future technology trend evaluation and integration projects.
Jeremy has a BS in Computer Science & Applied Math, and a Post Graduate Degree in MIS from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He also has completed the Securities Analysis and Portfolio Management coursework at the U.C.L.A. Graduate School of Management.
Bennett Kaplan has more than 19 years of experience in the field of investment management systems for institutional and private client investors, having served in a variety of capacities including senior manager of the investment technology and investment operations staffs at two major investment organizations. He has specific, hands-on experience selecting, implementing and integrating portfolio accounting, trade order management, enterprise data management, performance measurement, and reporting platforms. Bennett has a comprehensive knowledge of investment accounting and data management solutions, extensive project life-cycle planning experience, and a proven track record of delivering investment systems projects. Bennett has led investment operations and system assessments, strategic systems and data architecture planning, and industry-best practice re-engineering initiatives. He has presented at various investment operations, investment technology, and data management conferences, as well as the Financial Technology Forum (FTF), and is a contributing author of The Handbook of Electronic Trading, 2009.
Bennett has a BS in Management Information Systems from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA in Finance from Northeastern University.
Practice Manager, Alternative Investments
Pam Bloom has over 20 years of experience in the selection, implementation, and support of portfolio investment systems for buy-side asset managers primarily focusing on alternative investments. She garners the unique experience of providing services as both a consultant and as an in-house director. She has a comprehensive understanding of the diverse investment business, requirements and technology systems surrounding deal flow and pipeline, order management, pre and post trade compliance, operations, reporting and performance management with focus in the alternative asset classes including high-yield bonds, private equity, distressed debt, mezzanine investments and syndicated loans, and has managed and implemented firm-wide and investor solutions including, CRM, investor/partnership accounting and fund accounting. As a performance specialist, Pam managed and implemented complex performance measurement and compliance systems for asset managers with SMA’s and portfolios including structured funds like CLO’s, CDO’s, private equity debt, and hedge funds.
Pam is a CPA registered in California and holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Arizona.
Kevin Coffin, CIPM
Kevin Coffin has more than 18 years of extensive project management and systems implementation experience as the project leader on Eagle PACE and STAR and SimCorp Dimension implementations, as well as implementing and managing PAM operations for eight years at a large fixed income investment management firm.
Kevin received his BS in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University and an MBA in Management from the University of La Verne.
Thomas Hong, CA CFA
Tom Hong has more than 12 years of experience in the field of investment management systems. While with InvestTech, he has successfully managed several large scale, multi-currency, system implementations of leading investment management product suites. He possesses a broad knowledge of investment accounting operations for all types of asset classes and a strong understanding of systems integration workflows. Prior to joining InvestTech, Tom was a senior accountant/business consultant with KPMG’s Financial Services Group in Toronto.
Tom is a Chartered Accountant (Canada) and a Chartered Financial Analyst. He received his B.Commerce with Honors from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Jill Katz has more than 22 years of experience in the field of investment management systems for institutional investors, having served in a variety of capacities including senior management of investment systems support and operations for two large institutional investment organizations, Zurich Scudder and AIG.
Jill has a BS in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
Meg Whitman has over 30 years experience in financial services including investment management operations, global custody operations, securities trading and processing of all asset types, securities lending, collateral management, reference and market data management, and most recently as lead Business Analyst on several SimCorp Dimension implementations. She also has an extensive background in product design and development, product strategy, project management, package evaluation and selection, and management consulting.
Prior to joining InvestTech, Meg was an independent consultant in financial services providing business analysis and project management services to several large financial services firms. Meg served in many roles at Thomson Financial Services from 1990-2002, including Executive Director at Omgeo, Director of Product Management for the Investment Software division, Director of Client Service for PORTIA, and Business Development Manager for OASYS Global.
Martin Ouellette has over 20 years of investment technology experience with a focus on systems implementations and data strategy, including Retail Banking Services and Mutual Fund Operations as well as Financial Data Systems and Business Intelligence system implementations. He brings a unique set of skills that include investment business knowledge combined with strong technical and data architecture skills bridging the gap between IT and Business Teams. Martin has extensive experience working with the leading Data Warehouse implementations and reporting solutions focused on meeting client’s needs and delivering results.
Prior to joining InvestTech, Martin spent three years as VP of Data Management at ING Investment Management assisting with the build of their Eagle PACE Data Warehouse and Data Mart integrating accounting data with their trade data from BlackRock Solutions. Martin also spent seven years at Eagle Investment Systems, a Bank of New York/Mellon Company, where he held various roles focused on Data Warehouse implementations and project management. Additionally, he performed the role of Solutions Architect working with clients in the sales process to determine how to implement their data warehouse to meet their needs.
Martin holds his MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and a BS in Business Administration from Stonehill College.
Chris Spurrell has over 20 years of investment systems and operations experience. He excels in working with investment management firms to rapidly
understand requirements and implement effective long term solutions. His track record is founded on a combination of business knowledge, project and strategic management expertise, and technical skills. Chris has developed investment system requirements and lead strategy study projects and has managed numerous multi-platform implementation programs, creating fit for purpose solutions for investment accounting, operations, trading, analytics and performance measurement. This experience was gained in insurance, banking, mutual funds, retirement plans and state treasuries.
Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biochemistry from University of London, England. He also holds a Masters in Science for Crop Physiology from Reading University, England, and he received his MBA from Kingston University, Surrey, England.
David Schneiderman is an experienced business management and operational process executive, having provided consulting services to major corporations and not-for-profit organizations throughout his career. With over 25 years of experience in the technology consulting sector, David manages the overall business administration of InvestTech. Prior to joining InvestTech, David was the founder and General Manager of NexTec Group, where he built a successful, multi-office consulting and software implementation group. David was previously with Price Waterhouse Consulting and The Seagram Company.
David received his MBA from New York University Stern School of Business, specializing in Systems Management and International Business and a BA in Economics from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
